Each year, Hingham Women's Club hosts the Festival of Trees during Christmas in the Square. The Festival of Trees features beautifully decorated themed Christmas trees displaying various donated items available for auction to raise money for the Friends of the Homeless of the South Shore and the Hingham Women's Club Scholarship program.

The Friends of the Homeless of the South Shore is dedicated to helping homeless families by providing shelter, food, clothing, education and advocacy. They address a whole range of needs, from physical to emotional, from personal to social, and from psychological to spiritual. Money raised by the Festival of Trees is donated to the Friends of the Homeless of the South Shore.

​The Hingham Women's Club College Scholarship Program awards three (3) $2,000 scholarships to high school seniors residing in Hingham who will be entering an accredited college/university for a two- or four-year course of study and currently have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale). Money raised by the Festival of Trees funds the Hingham Women's Club Scholarship program.

​The beloved Christmas in the Square celebration is organized by the Hingham Downtown Association (HDA) and it has been a Hingham holiday tradition enjoyed by thousands of residents and neighbors across the South Shore for over forty years.
